Marcus Aurelius Severino (born in Tarsia - died of the plague in Naples) was a philosopher, doctor and surgeon in Naples. He was the author of a number of works on medicine. and this work on chess. "The author tries to show that the game of chess contains moral, political, economic and especially military regulations, but does not mention the cessoles at all." (van der Linde).

Condition:

Lothar Schmidt's label to front paste down. Both parts slightly browned and stained inside due to the paper, partly stronger, partly with margins and with a few notes by an old hand. Up to page 14 in the first part in the upper corner with worm marks and defects in the white margin. 2 sheets with a longer tear. Pagination in the second part jumps. The cover is little bumped Very go good rare Editions.
