An impressive and vibrant original colour antique print with centre fold i.e. double size (35.5cm x 27cm) chromolithographed by P. De Pannemaeker. Printed in colour from multiple stones and often finished by hand. The quality of the lithography is exceedingly high, producing rich, strong colours. Published in Belgium for one of the most important and sumptuous of all nineteenth century European horticultural journals - L'ILLUSTRATION HORTICOLE, which was issued in monthly parts (sometimes more frequently) with plates and accompanying text, in French, and loosely bound in printed paper wrappers. This print is in very good, clean condition; supplied without the original text accompanying this plate, but with a few other incidental pages from this issue. A striking and decorative image eminently suitable for mounting and framing. (L'Illustration Horticole was published in its entirety over 43 years. Between the years 1854-1868 it was edited by Charles Lemaire and published by Ambroise Verschaffelt in Ghent. In 1869 it was purchased and edited by by Jean J. Linden.
