Lewis, as he strove to write his own science fiction to be the antithesis of Wells' work, though he did enjoy 'The First Men in the Moon'.Undated, dated from Jisc from a copy held at the British Library.Stamp of 'George Elliott' to the recto to the front endpaper.Two pages of publisher's adverts to the rear. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart, with some light marks and discolouration to the boards and spine, marks mostly to the rear board. Very minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Prior owner's stamp to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with some occasional light spots. Very Good

Sinopsis

The First Men in the Moon is a 1901 scientific romance novel by the British author H. G. Wells. The novel tells the story of a journey to the moon undertaken by the two protagonists, the impoverished businessman Mr Bedford and the brilliant but eccentric scientist Dr. Cavor. On arrival, Bedford and Cavor find the moon inhabited by an extraterrestrial civilization the two refer to as "Selenites".

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
