Sobre este artículo
London: Macmillan & Co. Ltd,, 1933. First edition, first impression, in the usual remainder binding and Macmillan's Miscellany dust jacket. "This book is made up of two separate travel narratives; one of Russia and the other of Tibet (the trade route to Gyantse from Sikkim at the end of the 1920s)" (Yakushi). With typical panache, Byron contrasts post-revolutionary Russia with pre-industrial Tibet. Byron's account was first issued in dark green smooth cloth with a gilt top edge and a pale grey pictorial dust jacket depicting "A Tile of Yaroslavl". First issue copies are extremely scarce. Octavo. Original green coarse cloth remainder binding, spine lettered in gilt. With dust jacket. Coloured frontispiece, 24 half-tone plates from the author's photographs. 1943 pencil gift inscription on front free endpaper. Cloth bright, a little skinning on front pastedown, a few small stains to edges, plates lightly toned; jacket toned and soiled with a few chips and nicks, small loss to spine, flaps without price as issued: a very good copy in like jacket. Yakushi B315.
