Bound in navy blue publisher's cloth with a gilt embossed illustration of a plane in flight. Gilt lettering on the spine. Uncut foredge. Forward by Rear Admiral Wm. S. Sims, United States Navy (Retired). Illustrated with plates of photographs in black and white. Frontispiece is a photograph of Henry Pomeroy Davidson, also in black and white. Includes a list of illustrations. xii, 306 pp. Warm inscription by previous owner, rear Admiral Erl C.B. Gould, dated Jan. 24, 1926 on the fly title page. Unmarked except for this inscription. Also includes a letter from a Yale undergraduate to Admiral Gould, and a newspaper page from the Pensacola Journal of "The First Naval Aviators" listing Gould's name, among many others, laid in, along with several other small paper artifacts. External covers shows some mild wear. Hinges are strong and binding is sound. Leaves including plates have lightly toned. A very nice copy. Full refund if not satisfied.
