Sobre este artículo

London: Country Life Limited, 1931. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed. 11.5" by 8.5". Norman Wilkinson. A first edition, review copy of this beautifully illustrated work on fishing, presented to noted fisherman and Brighton police officer Jack Reece. A lovely work on fishing and angling, complete with excerpts, poems, and reminiscences. Written by Patrick R. Chalmers.  The first edition of this work. Patrick Reginald Chalmers was a renowned Irish writer, who wrote in a number of different areas, including field sports, deerstalking and horse racing. He also was a regular contributor to 'Punch' magazine and 'The Field', and wrote much poetry, on such topics as war, Irish life, hunting, and fishing.Complete with twenty-four illustrated plates by Norman Wilkinson. Collated and complete. A review copy of this work presented by the publisher to Jack Reece, fishing enthusiast and former Brighton police officer. Not only was Reece an avid shark fisherman, he also happened to be head of Brighton's CID at the time of the IRA bombing of the Brighton Grand Hotel in 1984. Reece's police force was responsible for the capture of Patrick Magee, the perpetrator of the bombing, and collection of vital evidence that helped sentence him. This copy includes Reece's bookplate to the front free-endpaper. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with just some light shelf wear and slight darkening to the spine. Bookplate of Jack Reece to the front free-endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. The odd light mark to the pages, which are otherwise bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
