Sobre este artículo
New York: Crown Publishers Inc, 1962. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Dust Jacket Included. New York, Crown Publishers Inc., 1962 (presumably the first edition sheets; see our footnote). Large quarto, 143 pages with 130 illustrations (photogravures from photographs by Haskins). Grey papered boards lettered in red; a fine copy with the dustwrapper very lightly rubbed and bumped at the extremities, with only the bottom corner of the front flap price-clipped. The book was first published in New York by Crown in 1962; the text block of our copy appears to be that of the true first edition. The boards are lettered at the foot of the spine 'Bodley Head'; the dustwrapper carries the imprint of Crown on the spine. The foot of the front flap has the New York details of Crown Publishers, under which is printed 'Published in Great Britain by The Bodley Head ...'. The first British edition identified as such on the title leaf appears to have been published in 1965. Curiously, the flap retains the (US) $10.00 price in the top corner, the bottom corner has been clipped of (presumably) its British price, and what is probably the originally selling price of '10 65' is lightly pencilled in the top corner of the front free endpaper. The first of Sam Haskins's groundbreaking photobooks.
