Paris: Aux Editions de l'Ibis, 1945.. 1945.. Very good. - Octavo, loose signatures laid into cream wraps titled in black within a decorative color frame on the front wrap, in original glassine. The book is laid into a gray cardboard folding case with a printed label on the spine & is additionally housed in a gray cardboard slipcase. The glassine is somewhat darkened. The spine of the folding case is slightly darkened with tears to the head & the printed label is darkened & slightly chipped. The slipcase is slightly darkened & lightly rubbed with the top panel lacking. There are tears to the head of its spine & to the bottom panel. 137 & [1] pages plus colophon, partially unopened. Illustrated in color by Pierre Valade with a full-page pictorial title for each chapter, textual illustrations, vignettes & pictorial initials. Near fine in a good folding case & a fair slipcase. <p>Number 495 of a limited ediiton of 945 copies. The text was originally published in 1533.<p>The list of illustrations [pages 137-138] has been misplaced and appears between pages 8 and 9 of the text.
