Black publisher’s cloth, red lettering on spine, colour plate mounted on front cover, illustrated endpapers (very minor dampstain upper fore-edge, very slight shelfwear, slight bumping), w/ d.j. cover art by Parris (chipping & tears head & foot of spine, minor tears), VG/G- copy. Ninth edition (D-Q code on verso of title), of this 1931 Newbery Honor title, set against the backdrop of a China-doll and doll house placed inside a box to be shipped off to young niece Elizabeth, who are shipwrecked and finally drift to an uninhabited tropical island together with their dollhouse. Scarce in original dustjacket.
