Sobre este artículo
MP3 Audio CD. One night, a few years after the massive Crimean War of 1854-1855, a group of military and marine officers assembled themselves in an evening meal in London. They were discussing about the warfare, as soldiers and mariners were fond to do, and someone spoke: "Who, of all the workers in the Crimea, will be longest remembered?" Every visitor was suggested to comment on this matter, and all of them scribbled a name on a sheet of paper. There were a number of sheets, but when they were about to be checked there was just one name, for all of them had scribbled the name of Florence Nightingale. All British boys and girls are familiar with the wonderful tale of the life of Miss Nightingale. Truly, hers is probably the much-admired name in England from the time of the death of the noble Queen Victoria. It will be an immense gratification to the writer to narrate this tale to the boys and girls in England, and it must commence, as every good tales do, from the start. Laura Elizabeth Howe Richards was a US author. She drafted over 90 narratives such as life accounts, verses, and stories for young people. A best known verse for children is her literary nonsense poetry Eletelephony, which is rendered into a cartoon episode (Vowel Letter Poem: E -Elephant) with Jeff Hale as the producer, and his cartoon studio, Imagination, Inc., for the television program Sesame Street. Some of her writings include: Letter and Journals of Samuel Gridley Howe; Two Noble Lives: Samuel Gridley Howe and Julia Ward Howe; Julia Ward Howe, 1819-1910; Elizabeth Fry, the Angel of the Prisons; Abigail Adams and Her Times; Joan of Arc; Laura Bridgman: The Story of an Opened Door; Stepping Westward; Baby's Rhyme Book; Babyhood: Rhymes and Stories, Pictures and Silhouettes for Our Little Ones; Baby's Story Book; Five Mice in a Mouse Trap; The Little Tyrant; and Our Baby's Favorite.
