Sobre este artículo

London: Peter Davies, 1962 . First edition. Cloth. Fine/Near Fine. 8.5" by 5.5". Claire Leighton. An illustrated first edition of this fascinating essay surrounding the famous Thorn of Glastonbury, by Hugh Ross Williamson. First edition, in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Written by British historian and dramatist, Hugh Ross Williamson, who was known for his historical works, particularly surrounding Catholicism after he converted to the religion, renouncing his position as an Anglican priest, in 1955. This interesting essay combines history with legend, presenting the famous Thorn of Glastonbury which has flowered each Christmas and from which supposedly grew the whole story of Britain. Williamson explores the importance of Glastonbury to figures such as Joseph of Arimathea, King Arthur and King Alfred. With beautiful woodcuts to accompany the text, by Clare Leighton. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, lovely. Dust wrapper is excellent, with light edge wear and the odd handling mark. Slight sunning to the spine of the wrap, and one or two spots to the reverse. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Fine
