A beautiful copy, sans dust jacket. Author has SIGNED AND INSCRIBED this copy: "To Josephine Piercy of the ancient handsome names from a bread and butterish sort of name. Katherine Anne Porter June 25 1942." Josephine Piercy was a teacher of English at the University of Illinois and Indiana University who corresponded with many English and American authors about writing. Letters from many of these authors are in a collection maintained at the Lilly Library, Indiana University. Interestingly, apparently none of these letters are from KAP. A beautiful, collectible copy of the 1st Modern Library edition. . 12mo - 7" to 7½" tall. 285 pages. Signed by Author. U1 .
