"Edward McCarron, my great-grandfather, was a lighthouse-keeper and school teacher born in Ireland just prior to the Great Famine. He recorded his thoughts at a time when few people had the education or will to do so. The short stories extracted from his writing are the result of the painstaking work of Carol McQuarrie, to whom I am most grateful. His writings are extremely rare and will provide for the readers a deep insight into the minds of their forebears who lived in the beautiful land of Ireland" - John McCarron.
