Sobre este artículo

New York: Simon & Schuster, 1955. Bright, clean, square, tight, unmarked copy. Sharp corners. No owner's name or bookplate. No remainder mark. Not a book club edition. Not price clipped (21.00). Author's first novel. Original green boards and blue cloth spine. From the Dust Jacket "On the windswept heath of the imagination stands the golf course known to all who love the game. It's where the wind is always at your back, the ground is true enough to be fair and irregular enough to be interesting, and all shots fly long and straight, perpetually pure. In Follow the Wind, Bo Links brings this Valhalla of the game to vivid life. Welcome to The Club, where what unites the members is their love of and devotion to golf. Bobby Jones, the great amateur champion, is the head of the membership. Walter Hagen, the dashing five-time PGA champion, works behind the bar. The head green keeper is Alistair MacKenzie, architect of Augusta National, Cypress Point, and dozens of the world's greatest courses. The club's guiding light is a 500-year-old shepherd, one of the originators of the game itself. And out on the practice tee is golf's ultimate competitor, Ben Hogan, preparing for the match of his - and anybody's - life. Will Hogan stay or will he play? Will he stay forever in the glow of his greatest moments in the sport, matching birdies with his fellow members, all at their own peaks of ability? Or will he play replay one round of his life, perhaps changing history, in pursuit of a record fifth U.S. Open crown? With wit, style, and uncommon grace, Follow the Wind draws us into the rich history of golf as the legends of the past live and play again, telling their stories around the bar, hustling each other out on the links, talking of the lure of this maddening, fascinating game. Part history, part fantasy, part philosophy, and part adventure, Follow the Wind is a delightful tale and an irresistible journey through golf's field of dreams." . First Printing of the First Edition. Hardcover. Very Fine condition/Very Fine dust jacket. 8vo. 251pp.

Sobre About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
