Small 8vo. 75pp. Patterned boards featuring a handsome design by Laurence Binyon, slightly water-stained at the top edges and worn at the backstrip ends. Front endpaper hinge tender and one section joint cracked. Some slight fox-spotting and the endpapers browned. A good copy. Dark purplish-blue grained cloth lettered in gold at the spine. A small area of discolouration to the head of the backstrip where the dust wrapper is defective, paperstock very lightly tanned and with just a hint of spotting to the title page and to very occasional text leaves. A very crisp copy in non-price-clipped dust wrapper, tanned at the spine panel with a single small area of loss, and with a little further uneven tanning to the front and rear panels. Former owner name neatly inked to the head of the front free endpaper, along side a date to the base of the front pastedown (this last obscured by the wrapper flap). Larkin's second mature appearance in print. First edition - the uncommon first state, which was subsequently withdrawn and pulped; this copy seemingly the publisher's file copy, with that text lightly inkstamped to the front free endpaper. 8vo. 66pp. Green cloth lettered in gold at the spine. A fine copy in non-price-clipped dust wrapper, just slightly faded at spine panel and at the head of the upper panel, and with a small sliver of staining to the lower edge. Thirty Betjeman poems accompanied by a Piper frontispiece and seventeen line drawings, several of them full-page. Printing errors impacting the poems 'Bristol and Clifton' and 'Sunday Afternoon in St. Enodoc Church, Cornwall' necessitated a complete recall and a corrected edition was published the following year.
