Kennedy adapted the novel into a play in 1934, called Escape Me Never, which in turn was adapted for the screen twice: first in 1935 by Paul Czinner, and again by Peter Godfrey in 1947, starring Errol Flynn, Ida Lupino, and Eleanor Parker.
