A H & A W Reed, Sydney, 1966. First Edition. Hardcover. Good Condition/Poor. 216 pages., last blank, list of illustrations, introduction by author, appendix and index. Illustrated endpapers, showing the route taken by author. There are numerous black and white photographs illustrating the text. Yellow coloured boards with red titles to the backstrip. The corners are bumped and rubbed and there is shelf wear evident to the bottom edges. The head and the heel of the spine are soft and bumped. Dust marks to the top paper edge and browning to the other two. On the front panel there are 6 puncture marks which appear to have been made by a pen nib. Bookseller's sticker on the front pastedown. Photographic dustwrapper, showing the author during his walk. The dustwrapper is heavily rubbed faded and there is chipping along the top dustwrapper edge. On the front panel there are two marks; one from a pencil and one from an ink pen. All corners are chipped. The founder of A. H. Reed [ A. H. Reed ] Publishers accepted a dare from his nephew to walk from Sydney to Melbourne. It took him 41days. This book is the result of that trek. Oh by-the-way He was 89 years old !
