First published August 1937, here published September 1937. Illustrated with a frontispiece, a folding map, and many images across thirty-seven plates. Collated complete. A detailed account of the author's experiences travelling from Peking to Kashmir, with chapters on Sian, the Chinese far West, caravanning, Keriya, Kashgaria, Mintaka, and more. Written by Ella Maillart, a Swiss adventurer, travel writer, photographer, and sportswoman. In the original red cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities. Fading to the spine and the board edges. Small splits in the cloth resulting in minor loss to the spine and board tips. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot. Light scattered spotting to the first and last few pages. Light age toning to the endpapers. Very Good
