Sobre este artículo
London: Longmans, Green, and Co., 1896.. First edition. Large octavo. Handsomely bound by Mudie in contemporary brown morocco with elaborate gilt decoration to the boards incorporating dark-red morocco onlays and titles in gilt to the upper board; the spine with five raised bands, compartments richly decorated in gilt, incorporating the same morocco onlays, and titles in gilt. Gilt dentelles. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Illustrated with 46 sepia and black and white plates (the plates which reproduce paintings with captioned tissue-guards) and 7 in-text illustrations. xx + 459pp. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with a touch of cracking to the front hinge, rubbing to the joints and spine ends, a few minor scuffs to the boards and a little wear to the corners. The contents with some light scattered foxing, a clipped corner to one tissue-guard, and another tissue-guard standing slightly proud of the textblock, are otherwise in very good order - the plates remaining clean and sharp. An attractively bound copy of this extensively illustrated account of the life and work of the Pre-Raphaelite artist Ford Madox Brown (1821-1893) by his grandson, the novelist and poet Ford Madox Ford (1873-1939).
