One stab hole upper left. Includes laid down clipping from Baltimore Sun Newspaper from December 28, 1875. Very Good Condition.

Tickets are taped to mat board, showing example of verso and recto of ticket from 1865-1866 season. Ticket color likely faded from a rose color. Very Good Condition.

Pair of tickets for Ford's Opera House, the same season in which President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, April 14, 1865. The tickets are laid down on mat board; verso of each is not visible.

Letter, on Ford's Opera House letterhead, is dated December 28th, with no year but 1875. Refers to set scenery being shipped from Philadelphia. The letter is signed J[ohn].F. Ford, is addressed to "My dear Winter", who is theater critic William Winter. John T. Ford grew up in Baltimore, and managed theaters along the east coast including those in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia. William Winter was a theater critic, biographer, poet, and essayist and wrote influential reviews for several New York City papers.

Ford refers to a newspaper clipping he attached to the letter. The clipping from the Baltimore Sun refers to a theatrical strike in Baltimore and the famous actor George Curtis Fawcett Rowe, best known for his portrayal of Wilkins Micawber from David Copperfield.

A nifty grouping of theatrical history linked to Abraham Lincoln's tragic fate.
