Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact, bar chips to top and/or bottom section of spine. Previous owner's book-plate laid in on front paste down.. Brown gilt-stamped leather spine and corners with marbled paper over boards, frontispiece image "The Woburn Beech," showing a tall tree and two people, (xxiii), 248 pages, (vii), Index, illustrated with 8 plates, some of which fold out. Corners and spine ends bumped and worn, spine and covers rubbed, back cover torn on bottom edge, edges worn, edges of spine chipped, edges of text block soiled, hinge cracked at front flyleaf, title page offset by frontispiece, pages facing plates offset by the images, small random stains throughout.
