Contains a copy of the response by Alex Macomb (Maj. Gen. and Chief Engineer) to the inquiry by the House of Representatives as to when the works intended for the defence of Charleston will be commenced and finished. Mr. Macomb explains a delay in the project due to the unavailability, so far, of necessary surveys. Good, single sheet folded (severe mold staining on every page, edges browned, nicks & wear to edges, short tear across spine)..
