June 1930 complete issue of magazine, profusely illustrated in color and black and white, 152 pages, 14 x 11 1/2 inches, color pictorial paper wrappers as issued. Light wear and soiling to covers, spine is slightly cocked (on an angle), interior in very good condition. An early issue of this justly famed periodical with many interesting articles, plus elegant color and black and white advertisements. Topics covered include "The Power of the U.S. Fleet" ("about half Great Britain's") and extensive coverage of the cotton industry with two color illustrations by Thomas Hart Benton and many other color illustrations. The cover illustration of a chemical researcher relates to the article "12 Chemists." As usual there are many elegant color advertisements for cars (Cadillac) boats (Dodge boats), planes (striking color ad for Fokker) and other luxury items just a few months into the Depression. There is also a multi-page advertisement by the Northern Pacific Railway. .
