Published at the COMET office in South Gifford, Missouri. H W Scott, Proprietor., 1900 Gray cardboard covers with a black cloth spine. Black lettering on the front cover only. 80 pages. Book size about 4 1/2 by 7 inches. Two frontis illustrations of the author, one as a young man and the other in old age. Autobiographical account of the work of a Missionary Baptist Preacher in Missouri. Baptized in the church in 1861 (The author was born in 1838 in Boonville, Kentucky) he began traveling throughout Missouri and preaching the Gospel beginning around 1870. Wonderful account written by a not well educated man telling of his adventures and triumphs in what was a very wild and unsettled section of Missouri. The story of the cats fighting in the rafters of a home where he was staying for the night points out the conditions under which he labored. Quite a scarce account of a rural ministry in the middle to late 1800's. Mild water staining to the bottom of the covers affecting also the two plates and, to a lesser extent, the pages.
