Partly inspired by his 1919 original autobiography The Story of a Labrador Doctor. Sir Wilfred Grenfell was a renowned and greatly admired medical missionary to Newfoundland. He inspired two characters in Canadian literature, Dr. Luke in Norman Duncan's Doctor Luke of the Labrador (1904) and Dr. Tocsin in White Eskimo by Harold Horwood (1972).In the publisher's original teal cloth binding with titles stamped in gilt to spine. Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
