Sobre este artículo
New York Chicago San Francisco: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1972. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good+/Very Good+. Lester Abrams. Signed by Author(s). Association Copy. Inscribed on half-title page by illustrator Lester Abrams to Honi (presumed Honi Werner), who did the graphic design for the book's title. Honi's original hand-illustrated title design tipped to front flap. Stated First Edition. Plum papered boards with gold lettering on spine and blindstamped pattern on both covers. Front and rear free endpapers each have a small spot of soiling, else clean. Rear panel of dust jacket shows some moderate soiling; jacket not price clipped ($5.95); in an archival mylar sleeve. [40] pages. A very collectible piece. The original art measures 6 x 16.5 cm., and is drawn in black ink over pencil outline on white paper. It shows the title graphic ''The Four Donkeys'' as would be used on the title page and on the dust jacket. Inscribed ''To Honi, with many thanks for / the logo, with much appreciation, / Lester Abrams''. The Four Donkeys was illustrator Lester Abrams' first book. He is better known for his work creating the initial character designs used in the Rankin/Bass animated films, The Hobbit (1977) and Return of the King (1980). He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1970. Honi Werner has been designing book jackets since the early-1970s. Her early work includes jacket designs for the novels of John Irving and Robertson Davies. She studied art at Harpers College and the University of Bridgeport.
