Printer’s device also on title page and on verso of final leaf. The introductions to both part I and part II contain woodcut initials. The title to the second part reads: "Concordantiae partium sive dictionum indeclinabilium totius Bibliae." The main text is in 3 columns per page. Bound in period blind tooled pigskin over wooden boards - attractively age-toned. Metal corner pieces are present; clasps are lacking. Title page contains three tiny and unobtrusive worm holes. This book is in very good condition. The cover has no wear the edges are clean as well as the corners. The previous owners signature and title are written on the inside of the front cover board. His seal is affixed to the title page. There is a slight tear on the front end page and some wrinkling on the page also. The pages are crisp, white and clean. The binding is tight and solid.This Draft Proposal was presented to the General Convention of 1976 by the Standing Liturgical Commission in compliance with the directions of the General Convention of 1973. The Whole Duty of Man is a Protestant devotional book that was published anonymously, with an introduction by Henry Hammond, though authorship was later attributed to Richard Allestree [1621-1681]. Henry Hammond [1605-1660] was a churchman, preacher, and Royalist sympathizer during the English Civil War. As a theologian, he produced several sermons and religious tracts, and compared texts of the New Testament in his book, "Paraphrase and Annotations Upon all the Books of the New Testament" [1653].

First printing of Erasmus' critical edition of Quintus Curtius. This first century Roman biography of Alexander the Great was an early Renaissance bestseller, with editions from at least a dozen printers throughout Europe by 1517. Erasmus brought it as reading material on a voyage to England in 1517, and finding the text incomplete and corrupt, he prepared his own critical edition. This was first published by his friend Strasbourg printer Matthias Schürer in 1518. A clean and crisp copy in a very good contemporary leather binding of full diced dark brown calf boards, with floral gilt roll borders. Professionally re-spined at a later date with a matching coloured Morocco spine, ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Board edges ruled in gilt. Marbled endpapers. Gilt inner dentelles. All edges marbled. A small patch of rubbing to the front free endpaper and some rubbing and bumping to the edges but overall a very good copy of this beautifully printed book in an attractive 18th century binding.
