Bottom right corner creased, and old call number on front cover in ink; otherwise Very Good. Describes various encounters with poor women and families in Boston, many taking place around the House of Correction or with former inmates. Includes a story of how Cleveland helped an African-American woman who was denied a cab ride. Also with numerous references to temperance (or lack thereof).
