Over the years many historians have written about the Bonifazi family, the first feudal family of the Holy Roman Empire in Italy, which has wielded great political power and influence. This book attempts, for the first time, to detail the chronology of the Bonifazi family, which can claim descent from Ferreolus and which has survived through the centuries since its first arrival in Italy with Charlemagne. Under the Holy Roman Empire the Bonifazi family came to dominate a huge swathe of Northern and Central Italy. This binding together of vast estates and many different interests under the influence of one family can be seen as an early attempt to unite a large part of Italy under one administration.Complete with chart in pocket at rear.
