First Edition (1930), unstated, but implied: no subsequent printings and same date at the title and copyright pages, in accordance with The Dial Press's customary practice at the time of publication. Very Good+ in Fair DJ: The Book shows indications of careful use; just a touch of wear to extremities; the top edge of the text block shows heavy foxing; else flawless if no longer 'fresh'; the binding is square and secure; the text is clean. Free of any creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of any underlining, hi-lighting or marginalia or marks in the text. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A handsome copy, structurally sound and tighly bound, showing minor cosmetic imperfections. The DJ shows significant wear to the extremities and some significant chip loss, especially at the bottom edge of the front panel; moderate to heavy rubbing and faint but pervasive soiling; price has been torn away at the upper corner of the inside front flap; mylar-protected. Flawed but functional. NOT a Remainder, Book-Club, or Ex-Library. 8vo. (9.3 x 6.35 x 1.65 inches); 397 pages. Eight duotone plates. Language: English. Weight: Blond boards with brown text to spine only. Fold-out document between pages 278-279. DJ's beige stock text printed in wheat-yellow with blue and black design on front panel and spine. Rear panel is this publisher's list of books in its "Library of Living Classics. Hardback with DJ.
