Sobre este artículo

Great Britain: Basil Blackwall, 1975. Hardback. First Edition. Frank Sidgwick's Diary. Previous owners name stamp printed small to title page. Slight shelf wear to top edge of D/J. Some seventy years ago A. H. Bullen, scholar, editor, publisher and enthusiast of Elizabethan literature, resolved in fulfilment of a dream to set up a press in Stratford-upon-Avon to print an edition of Shakespeare's Works in his native twon. To that end Bullen's young publishing partner, Frank Sidwick, was seconded to Stratford to set up, and organize, a press and start printing the edition of Shakespeare. From 25th May 1904 to 23rd March 1905 Sidwick kept a diary revealing his admirable versatility in many and varied activities. His account of the setting up and day-to-day running of a small printing firm is a document of historical importance, in strange contrast with conditions in the printing trade today. This Diary was discovered recently by his daughter, Mrs. Ann Baker, and is published with an Introduction by her. Also included are H. F. B. Brett-Smith's noble tribute to Bullen in the Foreword to Shakespeare's Sonnets (1921) and Paul Morgan's account of 'Bullen and the Shakespeare Head Press' in a paper read to the Birmingham Bibliographical Society in 1972. Frontispiece. 90 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions, Reference books ,and all types of Academic Literature.). First Edition. Cloth. Fine/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Tall Octavo. Harback.
