Sobre este artículo

A GENUINE DATE-STAMPED 1ST EDITION PRINTING CONTAINING A PLETHORA OF OMINOUS WORKS OF ART
TRANSLATED FROM THE ORIGINAL GERMAN TEXTS
LETTERS, DIARIES, MONSTROUS BEINGS, STRANGE EXPERIMENTS, GORE, AND MUCH MORE
A STUNNING EDITION PRINTED IN VERONA, ITALY, AND IN ASTOUNDING CONDITION FOR BEING WELL OVER 40 YEARS OLD

Now, this is one book most people have never heard of! Included are some of the most detailed and fascinating works of art in a book! Let's say it's for a more "mature audience." A beautiful find for collectors of darker occult lore in the realms of Bram Stoker's Dracula, although this one may be a "little" bit darker...The diaries and papers of Viktor Frankenstein. Describes his scientific experiments, triumphs, professional isolation, and personal tragedy.

A collection of Viktor Frankenstein's letters, diaries, and drawings chronicle his scientific activities and attempts to create monstrous beings and tragic madness. The fruit of six years of labor by its translator and editor, this first-ever, long-awaited edition of the diaries, at last, tells the true story of the agonies and triumphs of Frankenstein, substantiating the central core of the legend yet allowing vivid insights into events never previously contemplated and in some cases almost too horrid to record... Rendered in a style as close as possible to the original German, and accompanied by many of Frankensteins' drawings as well as other documentary illustrations, the diaries tell of the colossal aspirations, personal tragedy, professional triumph, a fearful struggle against madness, and the inexorable side to disaster.

Few creatures of horror have seized readers' imaginations and held them for so long as the anguished monster of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. The story of Victor Frankenstein's terrible creation and the havoc it caused has enthralled generations of readers and inspired countless horror and suspense writers. Yet, considering the novel's enduring success, it is remarkable that it began merely as a whim of Lord Byron.

"We will each write a story," Byron announced to his next-door neighbors, Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin and her lover Percy Bysshe Shelley. The friends were summering on the shores of Lake Geneva in Switzerland in 1816, Shelley still unknown as a poet, and Byron writing the third canto of Childe Harold. When continued rains kept them confined indoors, all agreed to Byron's proposal.

The illustrious poets failed to complete their ghost stories, but Mary Shelley rose supremely to the challenge. With Frankenstein, she succeeded admirably in the task she set for herself: to create a story that, in her own words, "would speak to the mysterious fears of our nature and awaken thrilling horror -- one to make the reader dread to look round, to curdle the blood, and quicken the beatings of the heart."

The overall condition of this book is excellent and looks to have been stored away for decades. The covers display beautiful details with brilliant gold gilt. The pages are crisp, and clean and contain no writing, tears, or marks. It still retains a tight and sturdy binding. Overall for a book that's 43 years old, it's about as well-kept as you will ever come across.

Hubert Venables was a writer of occult fiction, most active in the 1900s; his book Diaries of Frankenstein is one of his most famous works.
