New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1956. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good/Poor. This is a stated first edition, with 1956 (the publishing date) on the bottom of the title page. The interioir of the book is crisp and clean, with no signatures or marks, and few indicators of previous use. The rust-colored cloth covers are clean, with light wear at edges and corners. The dust jacket is in Poor condition, with visible edge wear, rips and several chips. The bottom of the spine is missing about 2 inches of paper, with additional wear at the top. The attached scan gives a better idea of condition. Given these problems. this should be thought of as a nice reading copy to share with a child.
