Sobre este artículo
[Denver]: Press and Education Department, International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers, 1951. First Edition. 12mo. Staple-bound, pictorial paper wrappers, 19pp; illus. Fine copy.
Convention address by a Black mineworker from Bessemer, Alabama. Asbury makes a passionate statement for empowerment of Black union members, arguing that an equal voice for Black workers will make the union stronger and improve conditions for all. Includes commentary on post-war housing and job discrimination, particularly in the American South. The striking cover illustration and one internal cartoon are signed in image "Jim Hulley," a labor illustrator active ca. 1930s-1960s, and for some time a staff artist for the IUMM&SW. Adequately represented in institutional holdings, but quite uncommon in commerce.
