Recently rebacked in sympathetic calf with raised bands and burgundy lettering piece. Original marbled endpapers retained. The binding very sound, internally some foxing and browning but overall very good. With engraved plates, as under, all with tissue guards. 1). Portrait of His Royal Highness Henry Frederick, late Duke of Cumberland & Strathern dedicated "To the Grand Lodge of England". 2). H.R.H. Prince Edward. 3). Mr Andrew Brice. 4). "Fortitude". 5). The Rev'd William Peters, Provincial Grand Master of the County of Lincoln. & 6). Tipping Brown M.P. P.S.G.W. for the County of Durham, Master of the Phoenix Lodge, Suderland.Whilst there is much Masonic content there is much else of a more diverse nature, e.g. an interesting "Account of Norfolk Island [ In a letter from an Officer dated Norfolk Island November 19, 1793"; "Anecdote of Kamhi Emperor of China"; & an "Authentic and Interesting Narrative of the Adventures of the Mutineers who piratically seized his Majesty's Ship Bounty. Never before published", etc. Uncommon.
