Sobre este artículo
New York: Mysterious Press, 1999. First Edition, First Printing. . Hardcover. Fine/Fine. In this noir novel, a darkly humorous crime caper, the award-winning Lansdale tells the story of East Texas Bill Roberts -- loner, loser, sometime armed robber, whose dead mom's moldering in the back room. Bill can't report her dead or he'll lose her Social Security check but he needs more income. He holds up a fireworks stand but bungles the job and just makes it to the swamp ahead of the police. When he stumbles out of the mud a day later, his mosquito-bitten face makes him a top candidate for the cut-rate, country freak show he stumbles into. Hiding among the freaks, trying to stay away from the ringleader's luscious young wife, Bill is heading straight for a confrontation with the show's main attraction, the mysterious frozen man, which promises to make all Bill's other troubles seem small indeed. Boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square, not remaindered. The dustjacket shows a touch of bumping at the spine ends, is free of tears, creasing or chipping, not price-clipped. A collectable copy.
Sinopsis
Hideously disfigured during a bungled firecracker stand hold-up, Bill joins a traveling freak show to evade police. He doesn't stand out too much among the dogmen, bearded women, hermaphrodites, and the mysterious frozen man whose sinister aura seems to link them all.
