Includes Bougainville, De Surville, Marion de Fresne, Kerguelen, La Perouse (and the search for him), and Marchand. (Volume 1 of a 2-volume set. Has 13 maps and 2 plates. This copy has a facsimile jacket of different design than the standard jacket. This is the first printing, Clarendon Press, 1965: No ISBN in book.).
