Sobre este artículo

New York City, NY: Alfred A. Knopf, 1984. First Edition. First Printing.. Hardcover. Fine/Fine Dust Jacket.. New York City, NY: Alfred A. Knopf, 1984. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. First Edition/First Printing. 165 pages. The author's book-length account on subject. One of the most important and valuable books on psychoanalysis of the late-20th century. The First Hardcover Edition. Precedes and should not be confused with all other subsequent editions, of which there are many. Published in a small and limited first print run as a hardcover original only. The First Edition is now rare. Presents Janet Malcolm's "In The Freud Archives". Her first masterpiece: A scathing account on the messy goings-on of the eponymous archives that eventually ended up in acrimony and in court. The three male protagonists - "K. R. Eissler, the venerable doyen of psychoanalysis; Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson, a flamboyant, restless forty-two-year-old Sanskrit scholar-turned-psychoanalyst-turned-virulent anti-Freudian; and Peter Swales, a mischievous thirty-five-year-old former assistant to the Rolling Stones and self-taught Freud scholar" - are among the most brilliantly etched (literary) characters in modern journalism and literature. "A story of infatuation and disappointment, betrayal and revenge, essentially a comedy. But the powerful presence of Freud himself and the harsh bracing air of his ideas about the unconscious life hover over the narrative and give it a tragic dimension" (Publisher's blurb). An absolute "must-have" title for Janet Malcolm and Sigmund Freud collectors. This title is a late-modern classic. This is one of few copies of the First Hardcover Edition/First Printing still available online and despite its imperfection (a very small open tear on the back of the DJ, but it's there) is still in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. All in all, it remains the most beautiful copy we have ever found. Please note: Copies available online have very serious flaws or are in multiple subsequent printings even if their dealers do not say so. This is surely an accessible and lovely alternative. A rare copy thus. One of the most brilliant writer/journalist/critics of the 20th century and our time. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER JANET MALCOLM TITLES IN OUR CATALOG). ISBN 0394538692.
