This sumptuous book features appx. 37 pieces presented in excruciatingly detailed descriptions and illustration. A mighty reference. Goes well together with the companion Volume 6 (French Part 2 and Gilt Bronze). The "Renaissance Furniture" section addreses Italian cassoni, tables, and chairs; and French dressoirs, cabinets, tables, and chairs. The "French Furniture" section (begun here and continued in volume VI) addresses furniture associated with Andre-Charles Boulle, Hubert Hansen, Jacques-Philippe Carel, Jean-Francois Dubut, Bernard Vanrisamburgh II and III, Balthazar Lieutaud, Ferdinand Berthoud, Philippe Caffieri, Gilles Joubert, Roger Lacroix, Pierre Dupre, Louis-Noel Malle, Andre-Louis Gilbert, and Godefroy Dester.
