Max Ginsburg. this is an ex-library book from a Portland school library there is a crayon Mark on a few of the pages one a squiggle Mark, another a line..not great shape but perfectly readable..it has a cover like they put with library books the glossy plastic he with numerous stickers thedust jacket underneath each protective cover has a terror on the fold path on the back page it looks like someone tore out the check-in checkout card, however it's still perfectly readable and after reading it's actually a very nice story....it's a 53 page children's book summary for children witness a confrontation between an elderly black man and white storekeeper in rural Mississippi in the 1930s the authors note says she was born the South didn't corrupt their she was three months old when her parents took her sister and she's live in the North however over the years of her childhood which Kagan of the South root yearly trips with family to Mississippi and stories told one family gathered through the story she learned history about her family going back to the days slavery. The stories are learned history nothing taught in history books, history about the often tragic lives of black people living in the segregated land. My father told many stories. Some the stories he had been told . Some of the stories he actually himself. The friendship is based on one of those stories
