Sobre este artículo

London: John Lehman, 1952. A near Fine unmarked copy with dustjacket which has three small repaired closed tears and a little wear to edges and is not price clipped. 263 pages. 16 illustrations. In the three years in which he has contributed dramatic criticism to The New Statesman and Nation, T.C. Worsley has won for himself a reputation among those interested in the theatre. This selection of articles covers the years 1947-1951, a period when the English theatre was in a lively state of ferment. The conventional three-act drama seemed to be passing out of favour: actors and audiences alike seemed to rejoice in the return of verse to the theatre as in the plays of T.S. Eliot and Christopher Fry: the producer was becoming a dominant figure and the names of Tyrone Guthrie, Peter Brook, Michael Benthall were as well known as the actors: the taste was for large-scale, lavishly mounted productions of the classics. 2. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
