Sobre este artículo
Octopus Books, London, 1974. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/Poor Condition. Illustrator: Photographic and Diagrammatic. 1.1 kg; 128 pages, indexed. Illustrated throughout with colour photography, a couple of black-and-white photographs, and some line drawings. Photographic illustrated dustwrapper. The only damage to the book is on the rear end pages, which adhered to each other near the centre, and when separated, have left a white patch on one side, with the other side holding a thin layer of paper the dust jacket is rubbed across both the top and bottom edges, and has a 2 inch tear on the bottom edge of the front panel, and a one 3/4" tear at the top left of the rear panel. This is a survey of furniture from the simplest forms, serving the needs of primitive peoples, to the sophistication of the masterpieces of the 18th century and the new styles of today made possible by the use of modern materials. Each of the main items of furniture is traced back to its origins and the author gives a lively account of its evolution, discussing both the development of styles and the influence of the manners and morals of the day. -- front fold over blurb Size: Folio ( 12"- 15" tall ).
