Sobre este artículo
First U.S. edition, and first edition in book form of this Romantic historical novella from Henry James. In original unclipped jacket with a few short tears to lower edge of front and very light chipping to head and tail of spine. The front inside flap of the jacket lists this book as the first in the publisher's Penguin Series. The rear inside flap lists titles available in their still new Modern Library series. Green colored paper over boards with 'vellum backed spine' (per advertisement inside jacket, in reality the spine is white cloth mimicking the look of vellum). With black printed framing, designs, and lettering to front and black lettering to spine. The interior is clean, clear, and crisp in as new condition with a single pencil note on the first blank verso. Overall, a remarkably well preserved book as attractive today as it was over 100 years ago.
From the private library of Maurice Sendak with laid in paper documenting its sale. Maurice Sendak was a celebrated children's author and illustrator known for multiple works including, "Where the Wild Things Are."
