Sobre este artículo
Hardcover. Very Good. Privately published for the author by McDougall's Educational Company, London and Edinburgh, no date but c. 1920; 8vo, 140 x 250mm; pp viii, 51, 44, 30 (being respectively the sections for Mid-, East- and West Lothian); khaki green cloth titled black on the front cover; slight browning but a very good copy of a highly informative book. (I'd always understood "Auld Reekie" to be a dismissive nickname referring to the effects of the smoky peat fires of the Old Town tenements. Milne identifies it as a localised variant of effectively the same attributes as the more formal 'Edinburgh': aodann;brae and bruch;hill for the one and Alt:high place (Irish Gaelic) and ruighe;slope. 'Dunedin' similarly links in with the same aodann preced by dun;hill. Tha sinn beò agus ag ionnsachadh!)
