Inscribed on the front free endpaper: "To Joseph Moore from Heywood Broun." Broun was a newspaperman and author noted for being a member of The Algonquin Round Table alongside other Manhattan writers, critics, and clever types such as Robert Benchley, Alexander Woollcott and Dorothy Parker.
