Boards have been heavily rub worn with noticeable shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are bumped and a noticeably frayed and spine ends are crushed, with some small splits and chips. Splitting to spine joints and ends. Tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Water marks to boards and spine.

A late Victorian primer on book collecting, with numerous opinionated comments, "...the man who collects large paper books as large paper books is a vulgarian and a fool" This copy is in the original green cloth with gilt titles on the spine and gilt titles and borders on the front cover.  The binding is fair, with scattered water staining on both covers and the spine.  The spine is sun darkened and has most of the gilt worn away.  Both hinges are cracked but holding.  The ink name, date and location are at the top of the title page, but no other marks.  The text is age darkened, but otherwise clean.

Boards have light shelf wear with minor corner bumping and crushing to spine ends. All surfaces tanned, particularly spine. Gilt lettering to spine is dulled but remains brighter on front.
