"Gay-Neck: The Story of a Pigeon," written by Dhan Gopal Mukerji and published in 1927, is a children's novel that won the Newbery Medal for its contribution to American children's literature. The book narrates the adventures of Gay-Neck, a carrier pigeon in India, detailing his experiences during World War I, his interactions with humans and other animals, and his journey of healing and discovery.

There were parts that held my interest about raising pigeons in India, but there were others that were a chore. It's an unfortunate title given the common use of the word "gay" today.
