Sobre este artículo
"A Gazetteer of the State of Massachusetts" by Elias Nason. 1874; B.B. Russell; Boston. The book contains "numerous illustrations on wood and steel" including a fold-out color map of Massachusetts.
From the Preface:
"The design of this work is to present in alphabetical order a clear and concise topographical description, together with a brief historical and statistical notice, of the several counties, cities, towns, and villages of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. To meet this want; to portray the varied local scenery, the genius, the spirit, the industrial and intellectual activities, of the people; to form a guide-book of the State adapted to the family, the student, the man of business and the man of leisure, the editor and the literary institution, - has been, both as it regards the plan and the detail, the writer's constant aim."
Condition:
Light staining on the covers; the maroon cover color has somewhat faded on the spine; fraying to the top and bottom edges of the spine; worn corners (the tips of the boards are exposed). Tight binding. Partial crack at front hinge. No loose pages. The pages are mostly clean with only occasional light foxing (heavier on the frontispiece and the piece of tissue paper over it) and stains to random pages. The fold-out map at the front of the book is attached at the spine, however it is nearly separated along the center fold and is only attached at the outer edge - there is also a tear below the word "Massachusetts."
