This is the rare first edition of this major taxonomic work in four parts (1917-1920) accompanied the third printing of Jordan's A Classification of Fishes (1939). The introductory note to A Classification of Fishes states that this volume, first published in 1923, was meant to accompany the four memoirs entitled The Genera of Fishes from Linnaeus to Cuvier, 1758-1920. The entire five volume set is offered here. It is seldom offered as a complete set. No ownership marks in the first four volumes; the final volume bears the name of David K. Caldwell on the front endpaper.
