Boston: Bruce Humphries, Inc., 1951. Rabbi Beryl D. Cohon was the founding rabbi of Temple Sinai in Brookline, Massachusetts. Their present religious school is named in his honor. He was the author of several books for adults and children. with a Preface by Samuel S. Cohon 8vo size slim blue clothbound hardcover with gilt titles on spine; 133 pages. Signed and inscribed by author on fep. Formerly paperclipped to last page is a newspaper clipping showing Rabbi Cohon and principal of Temple Sinai (Brookline, Massachusetts) Esther D. Starr and students Mildred Orkin, Michael Zack, Robert Turran and Judith Bergen. This clipping is from the (Boston) Jewish Advocate, Passover Issue 5712. There is another photo on the reverse side (which appears in our last photograph.) The captain which identifies those people is not present. From page 11: "This book is offered as volume of sermons preached by a Rabbi from his pulpit on the Sabbaths, the festivals, and holy days; it is not a book of essays, nor an analysis of "the Jewish problem," not a discussion of Jewish affairs. It is a book of sermons." Bumped and worn corners and top and bottom of spine. Tanning to rep and inside of back cover from the newspaper clipping and impressions caused by paperclip; toned pages, fingermarks on half title page, pages 11 and 65, pencilled brackets, underling and marginalia on at least eight pages.
